Besides the typical "peace on earth, blah, blah, blah" (not a bad wish by any means) What do you wish?
Mine is this. In the coming year, in these harder times, we can all still afford to replace those worn out brakes, shocks and shoes.
That no one gets ill... that we can all afford to pay the bill and fill the script, and that somewhere a strip mall runs a Wal-Mart out of business, but doesn't destroy a fishing hole in the process. My biggest Christmas wish is this: The Big Damn Band gets every bit of success that they deserve without any more work and that we all get, A Big Damn Christmas album by this season in 2009.

Hey All,
My wife and I are new Big Damn Fans having seen them for the first time opening for the Avett Brothers in Bloomington, IL, and again a few weeks later in Carbondale, IL. During both shows, they sang a couple of songs that were phenomenal, but I cannot find them. The first has been the opening song about New Orleans and the second refers to the Rev's father being everybodys friend and being drunk again (paraphrasing of course). Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi, this is your friendly Big Damn Admin.

There are a couple of issues going on with the site right now as a result of required upgrades.

First of all, the shows list isn’t working.

Secondly, the email list signup and general contact form are not functioning.

I’m addressing these as quickly as possible. I’m stuck in New York on a grand jury, so I’m not only missing out on the holidays at home with family and friends (and the Big Damn Holiday Show at the Vogue), but my time is limited to evenings for other stuff.

Suffice to say, we’re aware of the issues and I’ll get them corrected as quickly as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Happy Holidays,

We have seen the rev twice now, once last summer at the cincy blues fest and just recently at the Southgate House in Newport Ky. my friend Diana came away as a certifiable Revhead. She can't wait for another show. She says the band just makes her feel so good, kinda like the Dead used to do me. They are sooo entertaining and such fun to see. I'd also like to say thanks to Dave from the band who assisted us in getting the parking lot machine to take our money. He kinda froze helping us out. Happy holidaze and see you down the road. As Jerry used to sing to us heads, "thank you for a real good time."

Hello all BDB friends! My name is Tom and I hail from the great "Bayou State" of Louisiana. Down here we say "mo' hotter, mo' better". Here are some relatively adventurous treats to kickstart the ol' tastebuds...

SPICY SALTINES

1 box Saltine Crackers (4 sleeves)

1 cup Canola oil

1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch dressing dry mix (NOT the "DIP" mix-must be marked "dressing")

2 Tbs crushed red pepper

"Healthy Pinch" (roughly 1/4 tsp) garlic powder

1 Tbs Ground Cayenne Pepper (OPTIONAL-for more heat and added color-this makes the crackers pretty hot!)

Combine oil and dry ingredients in a bowl and mix very well. We use a hand mixer out of pure laziness, but a whisk will work as well. Place crackers in a LARGE ziploc bag (around 2gal size) and pour mixture over crackers. Gently tumble crackers in mixture to coat. Allow crackers to soak for at least two hours, tumbling occasionally. Transfer to tupperware-type container and watch them dissappear!

Habanero Spread
3 nice sized orangy orange habanero peppers
16 jar of Miracle Whip
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp black pepper

Prep habaneros (remove stem and seeds-this is the FUN part). "Obliterate" peppers in food processor. Really mince them down to tiny, tiny bits! Remove and set aside about a tablespoon of the Miracle Whip to allow room for mixing. Add paprika, black pepper, and habanero slurry (juice, oil, and all) to Miracle Whip and stir gently.

Experiment with this one. I had a great Habenero mayo over at Avenue B Grocery in Austin and have been searching for a pre-made spread like this ever since. Finally got tired of searching and slapped together the recipe you see above. This is GREAT on cold cut sandwiches and the heat is not unbearable. Just remember not to rub your eyes after messing with the habs!

Please share your spicy recipes on this thread. Can't wait to try more great HOT STUFF!

Tom

the fucking aggrolites? WOW. i'm not too huge a Molly fan (never really checked 'em out, always liked what i heard, etc) but the aggrolites on the bill as well? that'll be a FUN show, no doubt. not to mention, the venue is pretty cool. i was hoping the BDB would do their own thing midwestern style, but this is a great opportunity for more exposure, that place holds 4000+ easily! alas i'll be at Future Rock/Orchard Lounge/Elliot Lipp NYE in chicago w/ an open bar, but hopefully next year i'll find myself ringing in the big damn new year

I just printed my tickets for the Denver shows. As soon as I heard about the Aggrolites & Reverand Peyton's Band on the same bill, not to mention the Mollies, I knew I had to get there. I'll be dancing my way to '09, coming all the way from St. Louis to do so! There's no better way to ring in the new year than with a couple of my favorite bands! See you a mile high!

As I said, I can't do that. If you shot it, you own the copyright, and you have to specifically place a photo in the public domain. Wikipedia is rife with amateur lawyers who jump all over anyone putting someone else's work up there. The Rev, Jayme and Breezy all gave me permission to upload one of the publicity photos...and it was promptly deleted, because the photographer had to upload it.

Went to the show at Vnuks on Thursday. Only about 40 people showed. Fantastic performance though! Up close and personable. The next night at TGs...The "best bar show ever!!!" was the scuttlebut afterwards. I couldn't agree more. I think your ready for LENO.

My daughter is up from AZ and I promised to make a surprise breakfast for the whole fam damnily. This was my first time trying this but, it was a big damn hit, "Hoosier style"

5/8 cups instant non-fat dried milk
1 tablespoons yeast
3/8 cup sugar
1 1/4 cups water, heated to 110 degrees
1 1/2 tablespoons oil
4 1/4 cups self-rising flour
Shortening for deep frying

In a big bowl, mix the powdered milk, yeast and sugar. In another bowl, mix the water and oil. Add the liquids to the powdered milk mixture and mix until the yeast lumps are gone

Add flour, 1 cup at a time, stirring slowly. After 3 cups are added, begin kneading in remaining flour, slowly, on a floured surface. After all the flour is added, continue kneading 5 minutes more. Roll out dough, in sections if necessary, to 1/4 inch thick. Keep surface floured. Cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter.
Place biscuits on a floured cookie sheet. Let rise for an 1 hour.

Heat shortening in a deep pan to 350 degrees. Add biscuits. When edges turn golden brown, turn. The biscuits cook pretty fast, watch the oil temp, dont let it get above 350, as they will cook too fast on the surface while the center is still un-cooked. Remove with tongs. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot, with apple butter.
Makes about 24 bicuits

I think they were amazing enough to serve for Thanksgiving morning breakfast when my Hoosier kin (Evansville) will be in town.

Halloween @ the Irishman, Boca Raton, FL with the Big Damn Band!! Great show last night even though the good Rev was a little under the weather. Being the true showman that he is, he wouldn't let it slow him down one bit. It was a fairly intimate show/venue although the crowd was decent. The pub was having a "trailer trash halloween bash", I saw some pretty good costumes and some pretty lame ones as well but it was all in good fun. So I would like to thank the good Reverend, Breezy, and Jamie for playing their hearts out for us, like they do everynight! The wife and I had a great time and are hoarse from singing along all night. Here is a link for some picks from our blog, enjoy: http://limerickbergdoll.blogspot.com/2008/11/happy-halloween.html

I am a Hoosier from the south side of Indy now living in eastern Kentucky. I saw the Big Damn Band open for Flogging Molly in Covington and I was instantly hooked. You guys rock!

I picked up "The Whole Fam Damnily" and all I can say is wow! What an amazing album! This music really speaks to me, especially "Them Old Days Are Gone." Things keep changing--mostly for the worse it seems--and you can never really go home again. You put the feeling I've had for so long into the words I could never find.

I'm looking forward to picking up some of your other albums. Come back to Cincinnatti soon!

I first saw The Big Damn Bad when they opened for Flogging Molly earlier this year in Atlantic City. And, DAMN did they make an impression! Everyone, and i mean everyone was blown away by the performance. These guys have more stage presence than any other band i've ever seen. My girl friend an i just went and saw them afgain in Deleware on Oct 19th, awesome show. I got to meet them, and also got a picture! I was stoked!
Can't wait till they come to our area again.

If there is anyway for anyone to get a request to the band please forward!!! MUCH MUCH thanks! My fiancé’s 30th birthday is the day of the Oct. 18th show in the Catskills. We first me the Reverend and crew in Burlington Vermont about 2 summers ago. There was a music fest going on and we were just walking around and heard the enticing and toe-tapping sounds of the Big Damn Band. We wandered over and they were playing in front of an art gallery, we went inside grabbed two PBR pounders and enjoyed the rest of the show. We immediately bought Big Damn Nation and were very excited to see “The Whole Damn Family” on sale locally here in Central NY and purchased with excitement. We have been watching the website for a local show and 2/5 hours is close enough! So If anyone could ask the Band to say “Happy Birthday to Amy on her 30th” and maybe possibly, we have been having some problems with our relationship as of late, so if possible some kind of song about hope and love or any combination of the above. Thanks again SO much this would totally make her 30th. Again thanks! Thanks! Thanks! Just seeing the band would bring us back to happier time in our life.

Just saw the BDB at house of blues in cleveland. It was my 2nd BDB show, and I was just as amazed as I was at the first show. Rev., If you happen to read this I would love to see a tour with The Big Damn Band and the newly re-formed Split Lip Rayfield. (out of Kansas) ...Just my 2 cents. Thanks for another amazing show!!!!
